The Place, an abstract descriptive piece

The place is where everyone has been once in his or her life, it conforms to nothing but the imagination it features in. There are no templates or structures to this world, it appears as you see it and you see it how you believe it. Some people see far off worlds, fantasy locations or other planets, out of this world experiences, creating long last memories to last them a lifetime. Others see an abstract realism, a distortion of everyday life greatly improved from the way shown by geographers and textbooks alike.

What I saw as I entered this place is not entirely unlike what you might expect depending on what you expected. It came across as a contemporary vision of the world as you might dream it, a melting pot of the world's wonders and fantastics together with images of a fantasy world talked of in stories and legends over the centuries. However wonderful a thought this place created it was still washed over with a sense of stereotypical ideas and beliefs of an ideal world, but maybe that's the way it should be. I stepped out of the dream and into reality, a cool breeze swept across my face and awoke me to my surroundings, a forest. It must have been somewhere between summer and autumn as leaves scattered randomly across the ground yet a warm glow of the sun was creeping through the branches high above sending a tingling sensation down my spine. The morning was fresh and new symbolising the affect it was having on me as I began to tread my way along a path I was creating for the very first time. This was an untouched world being entered for the very first time, I was discovering something that could never be seen by another soul.

The air was damp but not too damp, the dew of the morning still settled on plants and trees covering the land on which I walked. There was a striking mix of silence and noise invading my ears as each step followed the previous, it was quiet, quiet as you always wanted it to be when it was loud, yet there was plenty to listen to. The proverbial birds were of course singing, but far away, just close enough to let you know there was other life, a comforting knowledge that you're not alone in a seemingly empty world. I could hear gushing water nearby, a relaxing sound that was increasing as I walked closer to the source. A Waterfall. It was perhaps the largest waterfall I had ever seen in my life, it wasn't just large, it was indescribable, from my standpoint somewhere between start and finish. All I could see up and down the falls was layers and walls of water falling speedily down the cliff face spraying out as it hit jagged rocks on it's way down.

This world seemed too perfect to be real, yet too real to be perfect, there was no outstanding features that raised a suspicion of false creation; it all slotted together in an unquestionably perfect way. Here I could stand and watch over the place I had come to through no memorable route, a land with everything you could ever need and a location I would tentatively call home.

As quickly as the day had began, it was finishing, the sun was drifting southwards towards the horizon, a glowing red and orange ball casting it's rays over a magnificent scene. From the top of the cliff I found myself on, I could look out over an infinite body of water, I could never know if any other place existed beyond it, but somehow that didn't matter. I was on the island of the world, an individual in a world with no boundaries or rules. With this satisfactory thought still setting in my mind, I closed my eyes and jumped.

I squinted as light rushed into my eyes as if for the very first time and I awoke from my daze as a cool breeze swept across my face…
