the termination of the account
Robert Hendy (aka the Robe)'s Tale of Woe

The Situation:

"As advised, under the terms and conditions of the BTopenworld for BT Surf Packages service, customers are not permitted to leave their internet connection online while not using the service. Please refer to paragraph 10.3 of the BTopenworld terms and conditions
Our records have identified that your account continues to be used in this manner.
It is with regret that we advise you that your account will be terminated with effect from 23rd March 2002."

That is a quote from a mail recieved just a few days ago, he originally recieved his first and only warning on the 8th of February 2002 at 12:18, at the time his only comment was:

"hah, they finally appreciate my service"

It was this complacent attitude that would come back to haunt him over a month later, as BT followed through with their threats as you can see above. Upon recieving this notice on Monday 17th, the Robe had 5 days until Saturday 23rd to get his head together. There was no way he could avoid this pitfall, but he immediately started devising up cunning plans to bounce back to his online existence as soon as he could. Unfortunately he is currently on holiday in 'a hot place', so we shall have to wait another week to find out what he does. But while all this was going on he had already gone through the FOUR STAGES OF DESPERATION, as we call it:

1. Complacent:
See Above
2. Mocking:
Laughing at terms and conditions
3. Joyful Apprehension:
"I CAN STILL HACK IN -- WAIT UNTIL DAYLIGHT THOUGH - ITLL BE ANOTHER STORY"
4. Complacent Again:
"those spastics at BT have still forgotten to pull my plug, they love me"

and then they unplugged him, but he'll be back, and TON will be there to immortalise the moment. THEY CAN TAKE HIS ACCOUNT.... BUT THEY CAN NEVER TAKE... HIS FREEDOM.

Visit Emotion Hendrix for his own words on the event.
