Monitor Cooling

In my quest to cool the monitor down as much as possible (and to help with my Computer: Quality of Life investigation), I have put my monitor on a box (FedEx) and will now sit looking at it for two days:

Two Days Later...
I have now strategically placed a hole with a 5mill radius in the top of the box, I did this using a drill attachment on the dremel. I use a one way vaccuum to suck air into the box to twice it's capacity! I then place a piece of tesco supplied selotape over the hole in the top of the box, trapping the ferocious force inside. This once again illustrates the lengths we're willing to go to, to get that internal chip temp down another degree celsius. From here the next step is to strap as many ice cubes as you can to the outside of the box. This will cool the interior oxygen to a nice 10 degrees below room temperature, and hopefully over 20 degrees below the internal temp of your monitor.

Once you've let the ice cubes get to work for around 120 seconds, it's time to take the case off your monitor, you have to try and do this as quick as possible or the ice cubes will melt, and your oxygen will start to heat up again!

Now the case is off, slowly remove the selotape placed over the hole and the pre-cooled oxygen should rush out as the pressure is released straight into the mechanics of your monitor, cooling it down. Although the oxygen in the room will affect the cool oxygen in milliseconds, 7 times out of 10 you're gonna get that temp down a proper 1 or 2 degrees. It's really that simple.

It's not time to relax yet though, get that case back on, and repeat the process within 5 minutes to prevent your monitor from heating up again, and running the risk of doing some serious damage to those winamp 3 load times, but at all times remember rule number one - have fun, and always wear protection.
