It Felt Like BroadBand

Believe me, this time it felt like it, but i have worked something out about my findings. It's about those people who have the key to fast or slow internet. My feelings about this are about to be expressed.

Today i decide to download the latest version of the KaZaA media desktop, i knew that this was going to take at least 45 minutes on my standard 56k modem, infact whilst i write this article, it is still downloading. It's times like these when i wish that broadband was around these parts.

During the early stages of the download procedure of kazaa 2.0 i was shocked at a speed of over 50kb per second, i thought it was another one of those freak things when speeds go up and down. But it happened again and then again. I managed to get a screen shot of it at its highest speed of 106.4kb per second. Believe me, this is the actual screenshot, no tinkering, no editing, no nothing. I have only enlarged the area that had the speed. See below for the speed.

As you can see, it was going at the speed you would expect someone with at least a one megabit connection, not someone on a 56k. So now i come to my point about this.

It has been in discussion between many people around this area about BT, and how they are being a bit slack in not letting out area have Broadband quite yet. We are almost there apparently but why wait i ask myself, why don't they just give us the goods. We believe thar all they have to do is flick that switch, the switch that will enable us for super speed internent connection.

And this leads me onto another point, why is Iain Rawson the only person in the whole of kesgrave to have a broadband connection, and a two megabit one of that. Fair enough Big Boy has isdn but so can anyone, and it costs a bomb for what it is. Rawson is surrounded by homes who want the speed, but they cant get it, does he have this one wire going from BT to his home, or is it infact that they have flicked the switch to let him have it. I believe this is the reason.

This afternoon was not a freak speed boost, this was the buggers at BT flicking "The Switch" on and off letting us get excited about the prospect of BroadBand being enabled in our area. But we can do nothing, we will wait or spend alot of money on getting satelite broadband, but i chose to wait. I ask for one thing, just flick the switch, make the kids happy.
