The First LAN It was a simple day back in the olden days - probably around year 8 or something, that we all arrived at my house for some comedy. We had been bored, and I had recently (within 6 months) downloaded a copy of one of the only Mac games that I owned - called 'bolo'. This was, and probably still is, a VERY simple tank game. It head overhead view, crap graphics, and the sound effects were Shite. The main reason for playing the game - was that it was possible to do MULTIPLAYER. At that time, I had a network of Mac's - all of which could run the game, and so the LAN was started. One machine started the game, and around 6 of us joined. The game lasted hours, and we spent much time just blowing things up and trying to cover the entire map in concrete. However Shite this may sound in reflection, at the time it filled vacant time, and due to the number of people I am sure it can be considered as the very first LAN. The at tenders were:- Randy Shields Dan I think Lawrence maybe Me. A few others maybe - I donąt remember. I just remember us playing for a long time, and eventually leaving with that "what's the point in living" sort of view. Just another LAN for the list. (And it DOES count, it fills all the requirements.) Rawson I think Alan was with the rebels in shri-lanka Article Written by Rawson. |
