The Iain (Rawson) Experience, part 1

Sunday:

Everything is calm. It's been three days now since the escape and things have settled down. Alot of the time has been spent idly walking around the labs, clearing up the mess and salvaging any useful equipment or documents that were strewn across the floor. Dr. Randy is in the other room, I can hear him slowly sweeping up some glass and muttering to himself - they are the only sounds. The drone of the machinary that had always filled the institute was gone, the record player had been broken beyond repair and sold to charity and no-one had been in the mood for talking - no-one was even here to talk.

I'd seen Dr. Shields in the basement earlier this morning playing with some string, we exchanged some pleasentries and I came back up. I'm not sure where the others are though and perhaps it's best that they have a break. For weeks on end we had been cummulating our research, making real progress and then came the incident.

Thinking about it we should have been better prepared security wise; it had been Jameson's idea to leave the cage door open to give the subject "some fresh air", which never did make sense. It was then I who set up Rawson with a full-access account on The-Masterplan through which he could've managed to erase all the work we'd done over the last few years - it was only the inept abliity of the subject which saved us some embarassment in front of the council:

The Council

We'd had reports of Rog hanging around in the grounds again holding a crumpled paper bag and a spoon. The authorities were contacted and we haven't heard anything since he was placed into care down south - still clutching the spoon. Nobody has seen or heard from Jameson for over two months, and we aren't even sure if he remembers where the Institute is, let alone that the subject he originally placed here nearly escaped.

Soon it will be time to watch the regional news - if only we had a television - at some point next week we shall have to go to a car-boot sale and pick up some new equipment. I suppose in some ways this has been a blessing in disguise, the Institute has needed re-decorating for a long time now and finally we have an excuse to do it. Soon we will publish the original reports on our new project - the Experience, but for now I must go an visit the subject to clean the jar and top up his fishsticks.
