I thought, after a long period of sitting down and eating, that it was about time that I got off my arse and did something constructive, this doesn’t happen often so it took some severe motivation to get me going (celebrity Big Brother).

I needed an idea and again it came while sitting down, but this time in front of the computer. I thought, for something to do, “I wonder how many versions of the same song I could download? ” - I picked a crappy song that I had heard a lot of people sing or hum “Waltzing Matilda” and was surprised when I discovered the number of search results that arose.

I was then amazed as I came up with another good idea, the third in that day. I thought “Why not challenge people to do this to other songs”. I did not act on this thought until much pondering and more thought had passed. Then I finally decided to set this challenge. So on the 21 November 2002 I set my first challenge and the email went out.

It was sent to: Alan, Master Bevan, Big D (from what I gather lesser known on TON), Paul, Randy, Grantchester Henderson, Jay, Rawson, Rusty, Jack, Pais (not well known on TON), Pandy, Squeak (same as Pais), Hendrix, Shields, Steve, Lawrence, Kent and Hulley. So far the majority have accepted except a couple who need a little encouragement (or a new computer, or possibly even free Internet).

I myself am not sure whether to enter this challenge or not, it may be considered morally wrong because I set the challenge and had such a big head start, I will ponder this again while sitting down but until the halfway update, this is it. Enjoy!!
