Why you should vote for Rawson, by Jay
Rawson. What can you say that hasn’t been said a million times before? This man is living in the shadow of his own legacy. In a recent election was proven to be more ‘genius’ than James Davey by a panel of judges including Beale, Hendrix and Bevan, and has a deep and winding history that has lead him up to this point in time.
He began life as an outsider at The Online Net, a lost soul in a sea of confusion wandering between places of rest and islands in the sun. It was only after the original success of James Davey’s articles on The Online Net that Rawson really came into his own, spawning many quality writings that would eventually lead to him becoming one of the great TON writers of all time, picking up multiple awards at the First Great TON Article Awards earlier this year. Rawson has also had by far the most articles written about him, including a few by James Davey, and the very successful Iain Rawson Study, which hit 10 parts a few weeks ago and has now become The Iain Rawson Experience, with no signs of letting up anytime soon, showing clearly he is a subject worth of study, probably even the most worthy of all subjects.
Earlier in the year, Rawson expanded his achievements even further than TON by creating the widely respected Wide Asleep Network, which drew together all of the locally produced sites into the empire we see before us today. Without him, what would sites like The Rocket Launcher and Emotion Hendrix be, but HTML documents lost in a forest of hopelessness – he brought them all into one, a collaboration and inspired people to create and become a part of something really special rather than outcasts working only for number one. He made us better people.

One of the things he’s been most famous for over recent times has been the controversial aspect he has brought to The Online Net, if it’s one thing he doesn’t back away from that’s controversy. Even when faced with adversity in the form of confrontational members of the community unhappy with their profiles, he will stay calm and react accordingly. Even when forced to remove profiles due to their nature, he didn’t lie down and die and immediately began working on the TON Complaints Department – expanding the site constantly and moving in new directions. If it’s one thing that we no longer question it’s Rawson dedication to the cause.
There was a time when Rawson and The Online Net separated, that was a dark time, but it only lasted a couple of months and then everything was back to normal and back on track. He’s had to put up with a lot in his time including ridiculing articles by Jameson about his leaving to pursue pastures new and many images of him featured on TON’s main page without consent and yet he’s still here, still writing quality articles and enlarging TON’s portfolio and content.
Rawson is one of the five TON creators; he not only runs Wide Asleep but also the TON Complaints Department and The Community – one of the main sections of the site, which has always been one of the most talked about. He’s brought controversy, he’s brought interest, genius, he’s written the third most articles and today is one of TON’s most valuable assets, which is why I believe he should be voted the Great TON Personality ever.
