Disneyland Paris Trip
At the start of February 2003, most of the Business Studies students from KSF decided to run away to France, more specifically Disneyland in Paris. Officially to attend a series of lectures on Disney as a possible case study for unit 2, but really just an excuse to go to another country and watch some men on horses. Yes, we had tickets to see the Wild West show on the second night, a meal with evening entertainment on the side and a free hat, it didn't get much better than that.
We attended our seminars in the evening and in the morning inside a big open room near the star wars tours. Inside the lighting was really dim and because we were all knackered everyone found it almost impossible to stay awake, even Tingey was going by the end. These seminars consisted of the same annoying woman standing on a stage with two large screens on either side of the room showing powerpoint presentations about whatever rubbish she was talking. I didn't learn anything. Except Business Studies is still boring, even in another country. Day 2 consisted mostly of:
Day 2: Lunchtime: In McDonalds, the spiritual home of Alan and Davey Rand, I give Dave the '40 Nugget Challenge'. This was no joke, but is exactly what it sounds like. The challengee must consume 2x 20 nugget boxes without throwing up, and within one sitting. Dave took on the challenge head on and got through the first box with relative ease, everybody was sure he was going to make it but as the second box took it's toll and the pace dropped a few doubts started to arise. Dave even had to be escorted to the toilets at one point to make sure he wasn't going to try anything sneaky. With only about 6 nuggets to go, Dave conceded the challenge and failed. However, he has said that he will be willing to try the challenge again sometime in the future.
Ozzy also tried the respectable stunt of trying to get compensation from McDonalds. Somebody had spilled a drink on the steps leading up to the first floor and as employees of the company, Dave and Alan were quick to point out that somebody should have come to clean it up within a certain time. Therefore it seemed to make sense to pretend to slip on the drink, fall over on the floor in agony and wait for the money. So he did. It didn't work though. Rob thought he saw Craig David outside in the carpark, but it wasn't him. Ryan, seeing how much this revelation had disappointed Hendrix proceeded to be Craig David for the rest of the day whilst wearing my hat and reeling off lyrics from his previous work. In the evening of the second day we were out in the town area bit just outside the main park which had closed earlier on and it came time to eat. Alot of the restuarants had big queues or required pre-booking, so once most of them had been ruled out I started to not care anymore so accompanied by Alan and Rob I went and had another mcdonalds. The others went to Planet Hollywood and spent alot more on full meals and alcohol before having a momentary heart attack when the bill was given to them in Francs and they read it as Euros. Day Three: The next morning we had to get up early again, really early, like 7:00am just to get some butter on bread for breakfast. Myself, Ryan, Jack etc couldn't be bothered to get up so we just stayed in bed until everyone else had come back and it was time to go to the final seminar. This was another desperate struggle against going to sleep and falling off my chair, but somehow we made it through and after a final hour in the park it was time to head back to the coach, and eventually, back to england.
