Supernoodle Review
Once upon a time all anybody knew were pot noodles, noodles in a pot. Then along came supernoodles, which were
Super and some people thought that they were perhaps even more super than pot noodles, most people didn't though.
After a while a revolution I like to refer to as supernoodle mania began, and people began to stop buying
pot noodles, which had become old and boring and switched to the new kid on the block. Available in many of the
same flavours, the two are quite similar products except one comes in a box and one in a packet. supernoodles are
more... wet and soft whilst pot noodles are hard and persuasive. Supernoodles also have the advantage of not going
all mank at the bottom of the pot when you're near the end. I have recently switched from pot to super and this is my analysis of the range before me as I eat them. Chinese chow mein This was my first adventure. I bought the packet from Tescos and ate them back at Rawson's house, he had also purchased some of the Chinaman's finest. to set this meal off nicely we had some tiger bread from Tescos, which is my favourite type of bread. The flavour to me was quite plain, I expected it to be stronger like the pot but after getting over the weakness, I found it strangely addictive and filling even if it did make my bread go a bit soggy. 7/10 - Tastes like chicken Southern Style Chicken Here I found some noodles with a flavour vaguely resembling southern style chicken dipped in Chinese chow mein sauce. The flavours to me were far too similar, I was disappointed and upset. it smelled like something southern but tasted all too similar to my previous experience. I hope I remembered to put the flavour sachet in, that would be embarassing. If the rest of the flavours all taste like chow mien, I am going to kill myself. 5/10 - Tastes like chicken Spag Bol Now I don't mind a bit of spaghetti bolognaise so I was quite looking forward to this one, although naturally I was weary that it would taste like Chinese chow mien. However, I had a job to do and nothing was going to stop me doing it. The first thing I noticed was the smell when I opened the packet, it actually did smell like I imagine it should do. There was also some herby type bits in the flavour packet which was nice. some thought had gone into this one - the newest release to the supernoodle range. The taste didn't let me down either, it was pretty much spag bol and the sauce complimented it nicely. For breaking the mould: 7/10 - actually didn't taste like chicken Bacon I chose this one from Sainsbury’s on the basis that I had not tried it before. As soon as I put the sauce powder in the boiling water I knew it was going to be something special. An amazing aroma of bacon filled the room and made some believe I was actually grilling some pig. But no, I was just enjoying some noodles. The taste was just as nice, and after a break of two weeks since my last reviewing it was a welcome return. 8/10 - Tastes like bacon Sweet and Sour Not bad. 7/10 - Tastes like chicken More flavours coming in part 2 of this article. Part 2 of this article will probably never be written. Written by Jay |
