the easter sunday update
News on the queen mother's adventures yesterday came through, and TON was on the scene with a quick news update and now this Tribute to the Queen Mother. Finally managed to get Randy's As Time Goes By article up. and Rawson gives us an insight into his complicated mind in How To Teleport a Human at 10x the speed of light. I haven't had time to write the reviews yet - and i don't know if i ever will but the First Ever Ton Article Awards are coming soon, and it's all very exciting.

Something somewhat relevent to Easter - Poke the Bunny.

coming soon:

I feel like doing some reviewing, for no reason, but than i feel like doing some reviewing. So probably on the films i just watched --- Crossroads, A Beautiful Mind, Don't Say a Word & Training Day. Also FFVI which I just bought and the FFX Demo, which in it's own right deserves a shrine not just a trivial review.

some new reading material

Well reading material is debateable, if you'd rather print it off and shred it that's fine with me too, just don't make a mess on the floor.. please.

I sat around today being bored, so decided to write some new stuff, so 5 articles to update this time starting with information about the Robe's BT account being terminated and an overdue review of the An Inspector Calls trip, and a review of the Fast Food choices you have. A bit of Nostalgia about Neighbours and the delightfully insightful What i can see from where i'm sitting.

Wrote something in the non-articles section about approaching the big 100 in the articles department, and finally got around to putting the Random Picture Section on the new layout with an update featuring Mark - everyone's favourite comedian.

Also forgot to mention that Walling's profile is up, ta to Rusty for that one.

its been a while

Just realised I haven't updated for a while... well that is a lie, I have been thinking it for a few days but haven't been bothered to update.. that's the truth. It might have something to do with the fact I cannot load this site anymore, hopefully just a temporary situation but one can never tell. Some new stuff anyway:

An old review I wrote for TRL - Red Faction is up, because TRL has been shut down, and soon the pages will be gone, and i must preserve my precious articles. Then to go with it is a brand new review of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, an excellent game by the way. Also an 'Amusing Jennifer Aniston Gallery', for you to enjoy.

sunday night

A couple more articles are up for your reading pleasure, including 2 more in our As Time Goes By series and How To: Build a Time Machine by Jameson - note: this is not the official guide, and any details within are not the collaborative thoughts and/or beliefs of The Online Net or it's associates.

Emotion Hendrix was launched, but should only be looked at if you're running a high resolution, as we seem to enjoy restricting those less fortunate whenever possible..

The playlist playthrough was finally completed, and a short summary might be found on the appropriate page in the non-articles section. In the short-term future, there is nothing big or exciting to look forward to coming to The Online Net, however i am sure more quality articles will arrive soon, and i'll have thought up something quite spectacular within the next few weeks.

tired...

We do have quite a bit to update, but unfortunately time restraints prevent it all from showing instantly. Just got back from London for some reason and am absolutely knackered, so a simple playlist status update for now and expect some more articles and the launch of http://www.emotionhendrix.co.uk/ over the weekend.

JLAN up and time keeps rolling...

The series has hit the big number 4 with two more as time goes by articles, read Ryan's version and the Robe's Version for more blast from the pasts. Also I thought it was about time i removed the press release, as hendy seems to have go away with his drug dealing offenses, and the coast is clear.

the JLAN stuff is up including events and pictures, for a very intriguing insight into the night. Also now I (Jay) own Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, so updates may be scarce over the next few days as it takes up all my awake time.

Coming Soon:
http://www.emotionhendrix.co.uk/ - the domain for our new venture, that will be a multi-national smash hit, very soon...

time drags on

I wanted to upload Emotion Hendrix tonight but the robe is being slack, and has only managed 1 image in 5 hours... so we'll have to wait a day more or so, trust me - there's a 20% chance it'll be worth it.

However I have already written my follow-up to Jameson's latest on school memories: As Time Goes By; Jay's Version. I have Ryan on the task (expect one in 4 - 6 weeks, robe didn't say no completely which leaves hope and Jameson expects Randy to do one soon, so the series can live on).

Also I sort of promised stuff on JLAN, pictures, events and so on but the coding and time required is more than i can be arsed with for now, so that'll be up tomorrow.

16:41 10/03/2002
some more and some more...

Looking at the below updates i noticed that i'd missed out on my updating every day statement, but only due to the mis-alignment of my timing thanks to staying up all night and being busy whipping the lads into shape at JLAN, of which events and a few pictures will be up within the next few hours.

I have three more articles to go up all from Jameson, well two and a half anyway. The first is a personal attack - always good to see: It came from hell, then we have a response to complaints we recieved over the subject matter and content of some of our articles. Finally an article filled with memories, which hopefully will spawn similar ones from others: As Time Goes By.

One of the surprise games featured at JLAN, which has been described as "addictive" and certainly is, is InkLink. This simple shockwave multiplayer game gave us hours of comedy entertainment so early on a saturday morning and should be enjoyed by as many as possible.

Hopefully I should be able to manage another update in a few hours if I managed to write the article inspired (almost) by Jameson's latest effort and don't get caught up trying to make this damn Zip Drive work.

halfway through the madness

Interrupting JLAN to bring you this dedicated TON update. From my seat I can see Albert across the way, Randy to my right and Ryan behind, all busying themselves with some technical jibberish... in Alan's case, destroying some innocent child's self-esteem.

Along with playlist status update and a change in the Crew page, I have another article by Randy:
TON Magic: The Gathering Challenge Cup.

20:24 07/03/2002
the proverbial calm before the storm

After slipping it in relatively un-noticed yesterday, I have decided to now disclose more information with this emotion hendrix preview - read it to find out more. The playlist status is of course updated and with JLAN coming tomorrow, I have to pretend to be busy which shall be a challenge.
Good day.

22:10 06/03/2002
article update

Just a quick note of two more articles going up, not wishing to distract you from the above headline and the below update. Articles are: Rog's Guides: World Peace - very insightful i'm sure you'll find, and Randy's cry to a friend in her name was el cid and she wore red.

16:55 05/03/2002
Profiles 2002, PPS and more...

Firstly, I have finally updated the 2002 profiles, although they're not in the state that they could have been. Some people didn't deserve much more written about them and for some there didn't seem much more to write. There is a distinct lack of new profiles for two reasons.
1) time taken to write + effort is greater than the point of doing it, and
2) had trouble writing lately

If you don't have a profile on the online net, we don't like you and/or you are boring. Although for a small group of people it's because I actually don't want to write something offensive (believe it or not).

I added in the Playlist Status page so I wouldn't have to keep drawing attention to it.. starting from now.

The next big event, although not that big, is JLAN on Saturday 9th March, hosted by Jay himself, and sponsered once again by The Online Net. The usual events and comically annotated pictures will be up soon after it happens. Currently awaiting the arrival of an article by Randy and the effort required to write the GTA III review is brewing, i'm sure, but for now settle for the new profiles and the thought of exciting things to come.

Also Coming Soon:
- Emotion Hendrix

UPDATE

we're now into the third day of action, and the winamp playlist has played constantly throughout the entire time, no pausing, stopping or juddering. Constant playback. We're still in the first quarter of the time and at time of typing it's at:

#757. Run DMC (feat Aerosmith) - Walk This Way.mp3

You can view the playlist itself here

The good news also, (good for me, not for you) is that I have enough money to purchase both Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy X upon release in the UK, so the mini-fridge will have to put on standby. Shame..

Coming Soon to The Online Net:
- Grand Theft Auto III Review
- Profiles 2002
- Continued Daily Updates

10:54 03/03/2002
The Great Playlist Play-through two thousand and two

yes, you read correctly. Last night I opened my entire playlist of 4137 songs, randomized the list and clicked play. The target is to play through the entire list, which according to estimations will take 257 hours 2 minutes 51 seconds.

At the the time of this update the current status is:
#312. Puff Daddy f/R Kelly - Satisfy You

16:02 01/03/2002
Profiles 2002 - Coming Soon

The TON Profiles have long running been the most controversial area of the site, removed for a while due to certain circumstances, but now coming back with a vengeance. They will only be of any interest to the hardcore locals and the odd Dr. Strangelove out there.

The old favourites will be back, new and updated and also a load of new profiles featuring those never before mentioned on the site.

KFC Clean-up Tissues

I was thinking to myself just what exactly The Online Net is.. i have written or attempted to write about it before. Just as much to let the public know as to figure it out for myself. In a way it is the community abode, the locals frequent and outsiders rarely enter through the shiny silver gates. Then it's just as much a personal journal for those who write however little they contribute, in 40 years the words written here will mean something only to those who wrote them - but it'll still all be worth it.

more and more people are writing journals online these days, in a less obvious way the online net as a journal has existed far longer than the idea of others and will probably out-live them a far bit as well.

a small update includes the transition of the creators and disclaimer pages from the old version, Rawson's personal advert is up and also the latest article/rambling from Jameson - The return of an old friend. 14:43 24/02/2002
LAN ROG 2K2

what is being described by the critics as 'the biggest event of the week' is LAN ROG 2K2 in which numerous people crowded into Rog's unoccupied house to run riot and create pandemonium for a day and a night.

» the pictures (jay's version)
» the pictures (rog's version with info)

and an article detailing more info will be coming soon/when I find the time/never, but until then you shall have to be satisfied with the:

LAN and taking out the rubbish

But 4 days ago now, the local hoodlums and occasional college drop-out rampaged through the Edkin's household and held a gathering only spoken of in whispers on street corners. When I find the time I'll write a full article on the event those in the know are calling: aLAN2002. A pun of epic proportions combining the host's name: Alan, and it being a LAN and at the some time retaining it's air of mystery and sophistication.

Pictures are up, including a montage background crudely formed in Photoshop.

Do you trust your eyes?

Good. Now we're past that obstacle i'd like to vent my frustration over a niggling distress of mine. Whilst idly watching MTV2 as one does, songs tend to come and go with the odd one catching the interest. Usually it's a simple case of catching the name and downing it, but when the band is named A and the song is something plain like Nothing - finding it becomes seemingly impossible, so if anyone has this would they let me know as I long for it in my collection.

The Online Net in association with Always presents this week's recommended musical entertainment:

· Lost Prophets - The Fake Sound of Progress
· The Cooper Temple Clause - Film Maker
· Ian Brown - Whispers
· jimmyeatworld - Bleed American
· Drowning Pool - Bodies
· Foo Fighters - The One
· Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive
· New Order - 60 Miles An Hour

and remember - if you don't like these songs, we don't care.

I suppose this is what we're here for

very few articles turning up lately, I think because people have better things to do and also that something else around here gained priority, have you guessed what it is yet? No. Anyway - The Great TON Golfball Challenge feature is finally up and also some new 'uns by Jameson - 070 & 069. 0, this survey has left us temporarily demoralised but with the strength and camaraderie we have here at TON, we shall pull through.
