The Online Net was originally a enterprise scheme thought up by the infamous JayK, he had a vision to create a site that would cater for the ‘above average’ individuals among us. The attraction too was that the domain was free, zero notes, no cash, nil points. Free stuff is always good as it makes the finder feel as though they have somehow been more clever than the average money-paying punter. Hours on the internet have been spent by us scrounging that free sample of ‘au de toilet’ by some dodgy French perfume maker so that we can proudly put it on our desks and look at it happily every few minutes. Much joy has been gained through this sort of pillaging, and still goes on to this day, each tries to outwit the other with the more original and comical product.

I was somehow pulled into the madness a while ago, when JayK realised that he needed my expert HTML skills, cunning wit, and unmountable pile of effort to assist with the creating of the site. At first a great deal ideas were thrown around like hot potatoes, but before long the content fell into distinct categories, soon a large amount of content was reckoned apon, TON had truly arrived. The molding of the online presence was attempted by, myself: The Robe and JayK: the creators. TON tries to present in a way that is acceptable by ourselves, no-one else, and especially not those Netscape users. We are not swayed by capitalism, lemmingism, serialism, or the common fool, TON is designed for people like us, if you don’t like it, mail us asking for a change and we will say no. Art is only every truly accepted by the artist, and the artist alone.

The creators present TON.

One that creates: the creator of a new television series; a born creator of trouble. Creator God. Used with the.

Reading this quote from the dictionary of the English language, you would not be dismissed for calling theonlinenet your God in a hypertext markup languaged form, neither would you be dismissed for calling either of the immortalised people behind this illogical shambles Allah, Buddah, or even ‘Pope’. We like to live our indifferent online lives with comedy and invisibility, but demand respect when it comes to the crunch.

We hope to be remembered for all that is clever and curious when we are gone. Though this is doubtable, it provides the mental means to continue with the pain and suffering to create pages that no-one will probably ever read. Hours spent and wasted playing with a small line on a page that may bring a faint smile to someone’s face, could undeniably be worth it. The other theorem, is that we do the site to prove to ourselves that we can. Theonlinenet has the power to hack into stuff, and come out running with chocolate cake plastered around our cheeky grins. Many times has TON infiltrated enemy bases and come away with the goods, to paste up in a slightly different format/style and take the credit, hah, the internet is good.
