Robe's Ramblings

I have just a few things to get out of my mind and into the world, you know the kind of stuff that really annoys you;

MP3 is a wonderful thing, yes it is probably illegal, but those record companies have enough money. Anyway I have been ripping CDs and downloading for estimated 27 months now, long before most people even knew the internet existed, 8 months ago I bought a MP3 player to take my tunes on the move.

But lately major electronics retailers have realised that they are missing out on a massive money earner. Go down any respectable high street electronics shop and you will see in the window massive signs and adverts for ‘the new revolution of music is here’ and all of that cr*p. Go in the shop and there will now be rows, apon rows of massively overpriced ‘internet audio’ players. Firstly they are not ‘Internet audio’ players, they are MP3 players, a format of music compression, this doesn’t have to be downloaded from the ‘net’ as they call it. Secondly, it is not ‘new’ It’s been around for blo*dy years. And thirdly, what are Sony playing at eh? £300 for a player, rip off, mine cost £49 and it’s still got 48meg of memory.

This is closely linked with ‘the net’, as people like to call it before grinning massively and thinking that they are incredibly smart. I am proud to have been part of the ‘internet revolution’ avec JayK since late 1996, so don’t think you’re smart and demand respect for just getting it now, with BT Surftime, and not even using it. And yes I’m talking to you. I consider myself an old hand, as they say.

TV is one of those great inventions that has stood the test of time, but don’t you just really hate Nickelodeon repeats. They must have showed every episode of "two of a kind" twenty thousand times.
When you don’t have anything else to do you sit down and watch it, and you think, and I quote from myself "get a life you stupid American lesbians". The whole thing is centered about two 10 year olds, and all they do every episode is prance around like a right couple of fools. If I wanted to see that I would have gone to "spring into dance" containing the considerable talents of one Harry Waller. They endlessly spout words like "whatever" and do a really tart pose. Get off my TV, thats what i say.

Since getting sky digital, April I believe, I have been well impressed with the quality range of programming, but one thing I have been not so impressed with is the channel "Men and Motors". Now I am not like that, but what does the title bring images of eh? And what does it show? Eh? Car programs! Its just not cricket.

I am proud, well not exactly proud but, anyway I have been doing my paper round for 25 months, since the beginning of year 9. And at the moment, every night I have to go and cycle round in the dark for 40mins, seems a bit stupid, yes it is. And this goes on for the large part of the winter months. Mostly because of the British summer time rubbish, once apon a time obviously someone thought they would be really smart and make the whole country chane their clocks during the winter months, what is the point? It just makes it all dark in the late afternoon, so everybody feels all down and moody, it’s rubbish that’s what it is.

On sky digital, which I mentioned earlier, is an interactive bit called "Open." There are quite a lot of shops that sell and advertise their stuff on it. Woolworths have a section and I can honestly say that it is rubbish. They not only sell ordinary chart CD’s for £12.99! But then add on an extra £1.99! For postage and packing Total = 14.98! Now JayK’s and my local Sainsburys sell exactly the same thing for £9.99, every day, (not on special offer!) Using my considerable mathematics brain-power/calculator Woolworths are selling the same CD’s for 48% more!, 48% is mental!

That is all.
For the time being.
